What do you think of the pillow assortment I purchased today for the brownstone parlor makeover? I put this grouping together in just about an hour by visiting Target and Home Goods. Not bad huh?!!

Want to know the secret to creating a unique pillow assortment for your space? Its all about “the mix.” To create a chic, high end pillow grouping, affordably, follow my designer tricks-secrets below.

1. Mix different patterns in varying sizes that share a common color. Here I used pillows that all have yellow in common and the black and white Greek key is an unexpected surprise with punch.

2. Use different textures like linen, cotton, embroidered patterns, velvet.

3. Don’t buy all your pillows in one store unless you want a matchy-matchy look. I found the first two pillows at Target and the Greek key and paisley at Home Goods.

4. Use both Square and Rectangular pillows for a cozy, collected look.

5.For plump, rich pillows always use down/feather pillow inserts 1-2” larger than the pillow cover. So if your cover is 19”x19” use a 20” insert.

Happy decorating!

Earlier this week, while waiting on furniture deliveries out in the suburbs, I decided to kill some time and headed over to Home Goods….

Oh my was it a treat! These are some of the items I fell in love with. And just for fun, I created two imaginary room makeovers for my finds. Each accessory assortment is less than $250, which clearly shows, you don’t have to spend a lot to make your space fabulous!

A great piece of artwork, pair of lamps, some pillows and perhaps a rug, can completely transform a space.

I hope I’ve inspired you and that your off to your nearest Home Goods. Happy decorating!
